Leadership in 2026 - It Might Look a Little Different
The expectations on leadership are evolving. It's no longer simply about managing functions and achieving results. Today's leaders are orchestrators of human and AI collaboration, cultivators of culture and inclusion, and strategic architects of organizational resilience in times of rapid change. The focus shifts from reactive management to proactive, human-centered leadership that is measurable and purpose-driven. This shift has been happening and is in full swing in 2026.
At the center of this shift is leadership. As I’ve said before, leadership is the greatest lever in organizational performance. Now more than ever, effective, strong leadership matters. Measurable and purpose driven leadership requires grounding in what is most important, ability to connect the dots for people and authenticity at a new level.
To kickstart the evolution of your leadership, remember these three simple steps: Pause, Choose, and Act.
Pause. The power of the pause. Take time, especially when faced with challenges or change. Intentionally slow down to reflect on your ultimate objectives and what truly matters. This allows you to shift from a reactive stance to a proactive one, ensuring your next steps are aligned with your priorities.
Choose. This is the very best part, you get to choose. Be intentional about how you show up as a leader. Once you've clarified what matters most, make a conscious choice to align your leadership behaviors with actions that best support the organization and drive the desired outcomes.
Take action. Period. Simply make it happen. Build a clear path to maintain your course. If the impact of your plan or leadership isn't producing the intended results, be ready to pivot. Take action, and make it count.
A simple shift in mindset can make a world of difference on your impact.
